This weekend was full of friends from good ol' Fayetteville High School class of 2003. I hadn't seen some of these people since the day we graduated and it was fun to get to catch up.
First on Friday night I attended a wedding shower for one of my best friends from high school, Ashley Fitzgerald. She is getting married in August to Matt Goode. Its still a little weird for me because I went on a couple of dates with Matt in college but that is a whole different story. Fitz and Goode (as they are known to everybody) are perfect for each other. The party was a "Fiesta" theme with mexican food and frozen margaritas from La Huerta. It was hosted at the Ortego's house by the pool which sent me into another high school flashback. All through jr. high and high school if we were justing hanging out at somebody's house, it would be the Ortegos. They have a three story house with a basement full of game tables and large TVs and a swimming pool. I don't think I had been to their house since freshman year of college. It still looks the same.
I lost touch with the group of girls that I hung out with in high school, including Fitz. Recently though, Fitz has been the one that I have seen the most so I was glad we re-connected. All of her bridesmaids were our group of friends so I got to see them and catch up which was nice.
Saturday Ryan and I attended the wedding of another one of my best friends from high school, Mitch Jenkins. He and Christi had a beautiful wedding at Central United Methodist and had the reception at the Fayetteville Country Club. Three of his groomsmen were also three of my best guy friends, all of whom have moved to different states. They ended up sitting at our table to get a quick bite of food at the reception so we got to chat. All of the guys played ball for Dad so they were all interested to hear how his pasts seasons had been going. Christi was a Zeta in college so I was also able to see a lot of other Zetas that I was friends with in school.
All weekend we all joked about this being a mini high school reunion for us because most of the same people were at both events. I had a blast seeing everybody from FHS again and I can't wait to see all of them again soon.
