Prayers for Baby Conlee

Please pray for baby Conlee Garmon. She is the daughter of a girl I work with, Meredith Garmon. Conlee was born in November and she was air-lifted to Children's Hospital on Monday night. She is having breathing problems and we found out that she will be there for Christmas. Meredith is keeping updates of Conlee on her blog:

The True Story of Santa's Reindeer

I received this vital information today....

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.

Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.

Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.We should've known... ONLY women would be able to drag a fat-ass man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.

Stacia in St. Louis

This past weekend Stacia and some of her bridesmaids headed up north to St. Louis to have a fun-filled Bachelorette Party! We had a blast and made soooo many memories. It was a great break for Stacia from wedding planning.....the countdown is on: 2 Weeks!
Friday night we all wore "ugly" bridesmaid dresses and Stacia wore an "ugly" wedding gown that we found from the Salvation Army or resale shops. She had no idea what we were planning. We wore the dresses out all over St. Louis! We had dinner and then went to see the Rockettes and then to a club for 80's night were we saw a Prince look-a-like. Saturday we got up and had an early lunch at an Irish pub then went on a tour of the Anheuser-Busch brewery. We saw the Clydesdales and the entire process of beer making. At the end we even got 2 free glasses of beer. That night we had the lingere shower and then went to dinner and out on the town after.

We had a blast celebrating our soon to be Army wife. We love you Stacia and can't wait for the wedding!

Tri Delta Through and Through

I know I'm a die-hard Tri Delta and I might get made fun of for this but I thought it was pretty cool. Watch the video below to hear words from the Delta Delta Delta founder Sarah Ida Shaw in a speech she gave to commemorate the 50th anniversary in 1938. Pretty neat to hear the voice of the woman who founded our sorority in 1888!

At least my sisters might appreciate it :)

Clark, Do you think there is room for the Angel?

Ok so one of my favorite movies of all time is Christmas Vacation. A particular scene came to mind this weekend when my mom, Dad and I were putting up the family Christmas tree. Mom and Dad inherited a new 12' tree this year from Mark. He and Leah bought it before and it was so big that it would only fit in my parents' house....well we thougth it would at least. If you have seen Christmas Vacation think back to the scene where Clark is unveiling his family tree he just cut down in the forest.

Country Fried Thanksgiving

Its a Adams family tradition to go to my Dad's Uncle Bob's house out in the country, or Winslow, Ark., for Thanksgiving. Uncle Bob is the best cook in the world and makes some of the best Thanksgiving food ever! He makes fried cornbread, mashed potatoes with homemade gravy and hickory nut pie! YUUMMM!!! That is just the beginning of our meal. We have between 30 and 40 people out every year for Thanksgiving. It's a great family tradition and I love Uncle Bob's every year!

So Thankful!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I am so thankful for so many things in my life like:
  • My loving God
  • My parents and two brothers who are four of my best friends in the entire world.
  • My "sisters," aka my best friends. These girls have been with me through the best and worst times of my life and support me through everything.
  • All three sides of my extended family. I am very close with each and every one of them.
  • My job that I love.
  • My wonderful roommate.
  • The home I live in, the food I eat and all the other things in my life that I am so lucky to have and most of the time take for granted.

This is a very short list and I could go on and on. I am so lucky for the people and things in my life that make me who I am today. (Yes I know I'm cheesy)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Holiday Market

So I am sitting here watching the OU-Texas Tech game. This game was suppose to be a nail-bitter, possibly determine the National Champ, down to the wire......and so on and so on. At the moment the score is OU-45, Texas Tech-7 in the third quarter. Needless to say I have lost interest in the game and therefore have moved on to blogging...

Today Mom and I made an adventure down south. We decided to go to the Fort to experience our first Holiday Market together. Neither of us had ever gone to a so called "Holiday Market" so we thought it would be fun to try it out. For those of you who don't know, the Holiday Market is just a place where a bunch of stores/vendors get together and sell their merchandise. We were a little overwhelmed at first because there were over 50 booths for us to shop through, so we devised a plan: Scan the perimeter first then move into the interior booths.

So we started off shopping listening to delightful Holiday music over the loud speaker. There were some really neat things and some really, really strange things. We saw rocks withs wicks coming out of them, an indian headdress, full-lenght mink coats and a diamond bra. Then all of a sudden we are disturbed by this dreadful sound of somebody singing. We finally found the source. A couple was performing their children's show singing educational songs. The kids really seemed to enjoy them and I'm sure kindergarten teachers would like it to (right Bekah?) but to the rest of us it was just plan irritating. But we continued on....with mom reminding me "don't go outside the plan" and skip a booth or jump to the interior.

Mom and I ended up getting a couple of gifts and had a great time. We might have started a yearly holiday tradition. I would recommend testing out a Holiday Market if you ever get the chance.

Oklahoma now leads 52-7.

Here comes the Bride (x4)

Have you ever had four of your best friends get married in one year? I have! 2008 was the year of weddings for my group of friends. One in May, two in June and one coming up in December. Kelsey, Bekah, Kendall all became Mrs. this summer and Stacia will soon become an Army wife. I am so happy I got to be a part of each of your big days and I can't wait until December for Stacia's winter wonderland. Love you guys!

Twilight

Ok I finally gave in. I became a victim of peer pressure. That's right, I was sick of hearing everybody else talk about it so I decided to read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer to judge its greatness for myself. Needless to say I felt a little foolish walking to the young teen section of the book store to find the book. But all of that to say, I did enjoy the read. It isn't a mind-boggling novel but it provided some entertainment. I'm a sucker for romantic love stories with heroism and magical creatures. One of my nerdy attributes. My goal was to finish it before this weekend so I could go see the movie. Hopefully it will be as entertaining. Now I've started on the next book in the series, The New Moon. Check back later to read my review.

Happy Halloween

I decided this year that I wanted to dress up for Halloween. I hadn't celebrated Halloween in many years so this was going to be the year. Somehow I convinced Ryan to go with me, but he would only dress up if he didn't have to dress up. Therefore, he got to wear his camo and I did the dressing up. We had fun being a Hunter and a Deer.

Go Hogs! Go Cards!

If you know me at all, you know one of my favorite things is football. I love my Arkansas Razorbacks and Farmington Cardinals. The Hogs season was not the best this year but I have a feeling the future for the Hogs is very bright.

Fortunatley, the Cardinals have had a good season. They went 6-4 and will travel to Gosnell on Friday for their first play-off game. Since Gosnell is on the other side of the earth (eastern Arkansas) and I have to work, I won't be able to make the game. Don't worry though, I will be cheering them on from Fayetteville. Good Luck Cards! Beat Gosnell!
Here are some pictures of us from the Arkansas season.
Some of the Smith cousins at the Ole Miss game.
Mom and Dad even came to the tailgate.
The two best Arkansas Cheerleaders you've ever seen, Kinley and Anniston.

It's Official!

The proof is in the ground! I am officially a graduate of the University of Arkansas because my name has been etched on Senior Walk. I was so excited I just had to go take pictures of it. There is something about seeing your name on Senior Walk that is very rewarding and a little bit emotional. In case you are wondering and want to go see it, the 2007 graduates' names are in front of the Science Engineering Building on campus.
