Zach & Collin's Tailgate Shower

We had a great time last weekend for Zach and Collin's Tailgate Shower. The exciting victory made it even sweeter!

Anna made an awesome cupcake cake!

The happy couple
Collin and her Hostesses. She gave us really cool Razorback scarves!

The main food table.

I was able to break out a bunch of my wedding gifts. This girl has got plenty of pigs, football and Razorback serving dishes to go aroud.

I had fun making the pumpkins. the Woo Pig Sooie plate says "The Holderfields" underneathe. Don't worry - I might have purchased a Pettigrew one as well :)

We love you Collin and Zach and can't wait until the wedding - only a few short weeks away!

Happy Fall Yall

I have gotten in the Fall decorating spirit this week because on Saturday we are hosting a Couples' Tailgate Shower for Collin in Zach. I got pretty crafty this year so I wanted to share. I am also working on my "tablescape" and can't wait to show you that. It looks great already!

Here is my entire front porch. I was having a bad day and I told Ryan I wanted lots of pumpkins and lots of mums. He let me go kind of crazy but it turned out great! You can't tell, but we have our Hog doormat out as well. Wooo Pig Sooie!

And here is my wreath on the front door. The pre-made wreath came from Hobby Lobby and I added to it. I got the gold letter P for a wedding gift and I didn't have a great place to put it and then it dawned on me - put it on the wreath! I also added real feasant feathers that Ryan always brings back from his hunting trips for me. He knows I like to decorate with them and I think they made a great addition.
Next week I will post the pictures from Collin and Zach's party. Let's just say the decor includes Razorbacks, pumpkins and rhinestones!!

We had our second wedding shower on Saturday with our families around the pool with Mexican food - perfection! Most of our extended families got to meet each other and we had a blast introducing them. Family is so important to both Ryan and I so we are excited anytime both are all together. Cooking With Love

I have been meaning to do this post for a couple of weeks but I wanted to take pictures of the subject but couldn't find my camera. Now I have pics so I can share now.

About a week after my birthday, mom and I were working out with our personal training, aka DAD, and she told me she had one last birthday gift for me. I was surprised because I told them not to get me anything for my birthday because of the wedding, but of course, they didn't listen.

I opened the gift and was in total suprise. This is what I saw

Mom made me a cookbook with all of our family recipes. The cover is a picture of me and my brothers making christmas cookies.

Each page has a recipe from one family member with a picture of them.

As I started looking through it mom said, "this book also includes recipes from 5 family memebers who are no longer with us" At that moment I started crying. Now folks let me tell you, I have never cried when opening a gift - even my engagement ring! So you know it was impactful. Below are recipes from my grandmother and my counsin Leah.

I will treasure this gift forever. Thank you Mom!

Wedding Nightmare #3

Last night I dreamt that when I went to sleep I had 7 weeks until the wedding but when I woke up it was the day before the wedding. I had incidently slept through 7 weeks. We had missed our last marriage counseling session and the walk-through with the pastor, I didn't make my make-up appointment therefore nobody would do it, the guys didn't have tuxes, we didn't plan a rehersal dinner and I hadn't chosen the ceremony music.

Can you tell these are all on my current to do list.

To make it even worse - it was one of those nightmares when I would wake up and calm myself down but then when I fell asleep I was right back where I left off. I am pretty sure that happened three times.

I woke up this morning drenched in sweat. Needless to say, I got no sleep last night!

Can you believe it is less than 2 months! Yikes!!

An Exciting Day for the (Future) Pettigrews!

I got the most exciting text message last Friday. It read:

"Got 2 seats for you in Fayetteville - sec 112, row 20, seats 24-25"

That's right folks. We are officially Razorback Football Season Ticket holders! This was some of the most exciting news Ryan and I have gotten. If you couldn't tell, we are die hard fans and don't miss any home games.

My cousins Jerry and Mark were starting offensive lineman for the Hogs from 2000-2004 (i think those are the right years) so my entire family have tons of tickets. Ryan and I could usually get a set of tickets from somebody in the family who wasn't going that week, but it was based week by week. Now we are super excited to have our own seats and don't have to stress about it each week.

This makes us even more excited for football season and can't wait for it to get here...I guess we need to get through a wedding first :)

Thanks Jerry and Amy for helping us out!

WOOOOOOOOOOOO Pig Sooooooie!

Doesn't this just melt your heart?

Ryan had a visitor to his office this week. He is holding baby Whitt. They both look pretty content to me. Ryan says Whitt loves sleeping on his belly.

Aaron and Alena's Wedding

A couple of weeks ago we were in Dallas for our friends Aaron and Alena's wedding. Ryan was an usher so we went down Friday morning. Alena is Jewish and Aaron is Catholic so you can only imagine how fun that reception was. It was the first Jewish wedding I have been too and I loved all the traditional dances and yelling "Mazel Tov!"

Ryan is the next guy in their group of friends to get married so Aaron threw him the garter

Wedding Details: The Honeymoon!

After much thought and consideration Ryan and I have decided where we are going for our honeymoon. We recently decided that we would both rather go on a shorter, US trip for now. We wanted to have a few days at home just to relax and recoop and we wanted more time to save more money to go on our "big" honeymoon trip next year.

So we thought and we thought and we decided on a place that we both have always wanted to go. Not only will this be the perfect place for the nerds that we are but what better place to spend our nation's birthday than in our nation's capital...

WASHINGTON, D.C.!!!

Yes we will be spending the 4th of July on the National Mall watching a brillant display of fireworks. We will be there for 4 days and we intend to hit up as many tourist spots as we can. We both love history so we want to take it all in. On our "must see" list are the National Mall, the Smithsonian, the Holocaust Museum, the White House, Arlington Park and a few others.

Ryan did a lot of research and everything he found said that the hotel we chose is the best in DC. We will be staying at the Hotel Palomar which is located in Dupont Circle. When we called to make the reservations Ryan told them it was our honeymoon and the instantly upgraded our room. A+ for customer service so far.

Needless to say we are super excited about the honeymoon! Our next goal is to find some great restaurants. Anybody got any suggestions?

SURPRISE!

Ryan and I were in Dallas this weekend at our good friends' wedding. When I got home on Sunday I found this on my door step. It is our very first wedding gift! We got a dinner plate of my fine china from my good friend Bekah's mom, Anne. I guess this means that the wedding is getting closer. Ahh! So exciting!!
