Football Week 4

Farmington Cardinals (1-1-1) vs. Gentry Pioneers (1-2)

Farmington got their first win last week and it was a big one, shutting out Marshall 46-0. Gentry suffered their second loss of the season against Siloam and are traveling to Farmington to play their third away game. Friday's match-up signals the start of 1-4A conference play for both teams and will set the tone for the rest of the season. Farmington is also celebrating Homecoming so there should be some extra excitement (or distraction) in the air tonight.

Arkansas Razorbacks (1-1) vs. #3 Alabama Crimsome Tide (3-0)

In Arkansas' lost last week, we saw a glimmer of a substantial offense, our defense however was severly lacking. Alabama, the third-ranked team in the country, is on a 3-0 winning streak and is sure to be a tough host when Arkansas travels to Tuscaloosa. Alabama's defense will prove tough for Mallat and his offense.

I have found a new obsession - YOGA! Ryan's cousin Sherri asked me a couple of weeks ago to come to her Yoga class that she was teaching at a new gym in Fayetteville. I said sure why not, I'll try it.

I was really nervous about it. If you didn't know already, I might be one of the world's least flexible women ever. So I went to the class and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be but it was still a GREAT work out. I was sweating like crazy. The class is actually a combination of yoga, tai chi and pilates. The best part of the whole workout was the meditation time at the end. Sherri puts you in a complete relaxation and meditative state and it is a great way to end the day.

The gym where I take yoga and recently joined is called Clubhaus. It is a great atmosphere, located on Dickson Street and is LEED certified.

Surprisingly I am actually looking forward to "working out"/yoga tomorrow night.

Football Week 3

Farmington Cardinals (0-1-1) vs. Marshall Bobcats (0-2)

Going into week 3, the Cardinals are still looking for their first win. Farmington had it rough last week and was only able to end in a tie against Ozark. Marshall is also looking for its first win. Last week, they lost to Berryville. Both teams are desparate to get a W before heading into conference play.

Arkansas Razorbacks (1-0) vs. Georgia Bulldogs (1-1, 1-0 SEC)

Wooooo Pig Sooie!!! The first home Hog game is upon us which means tailgating, calling the Hogs and 72,000 screaming fans. This week, the Hogs open up conference play by taking on the Georgia Bulldogs. The Dogs are coming off a win over South Carolina last Saturday and the Hogs are anxious to get back on the playing field after an off week. I predict the match-up will be a high scoring game as a result of weak defenses on both sides. Georgia is sure to be tired after a 4 hour game only 6 days ago while the Hogs should be entergized and ready to prove to their fans they are the team to beat in the SEC.

Cousin Time

Saturday night Tracey and Mark were in town to celebrate Beth's birthday so I met up with all the cousins: Mark, Tracey, Matt, Beth, Jerry and Amy and we had a blast! Let's just say there were Woo Woos involved :) I didn't take my camera but got a few shots with my BlackBerry. Me and my cousin "Little" Jerry. Can't you see the resemblance :) It's the Smith blood in us.

This picture is absolutely terrible of both of us but it's so bad that it is funny. We were laughing. Love you Amy!

Score Update

Well Farmington didn't win but they didn't lose either. The game ended in a tie 7-7. The only good thing to say about the game is that we didn't "techinally" lose and these precious faces came to cheer on the Cards! They took my mind off the ugliness on the field. Anniston and Treyson are great Farmington Cheerleaders :)

Football Week 2

Farmington Cardinals (0-1) vs. Ozark HIllbillies (0-1)

Both teams are coming off first-week loses and are ready to get their first wins. Ozark went 1-9 last year but, with a new coach and a new offense, should pose a threat to the Cards. Ozark has switched to the spread offense and have a speedster that could out run any Cardinal. Despite the loss last week, Farmington put up a good show at Siloam Springs and showcased its talented pool of sophomores. The game will sure to be an in-air bout to the finish.

Weekend Scores Updates

Farmington 10 - Siloam Springs 19

Coach Adams, Sr. and Coach Adams, Jr.

Coach Adams, Jr.

Even though we lost, it was a great game. Farmington hung in there with SS with a 10-10 score until the 4 th quarter when SS got a safety and then another TD.

Arkansas 48 - Missouri State 10

Arkansas scored on the very first kick-off when they ran it back for a TD. Enough said.
This was my first Little Rock game as a fan and I got to tailgate with my best friends plus we won! It was a great day.

Weird Coincidence

On my way home from Little Rock this weekend I finished the book I was reading, To the Nines by Janet Evanovich. I love her books. They are a mystery series revolving around Stephanie Plum, a bond enformcement agent who has no clue what she is doing. Currenlty there are 15 in the series and each one is laugh-out-loud funny.
Well when I got home I decided to take a break from Stephanie Plum and I started The Next Big Thing by Johanna Edwards. It was a random $4 find from Hastings. It's about an overweight woman who is a contestant on a reality TV show. It is also funny so far.

Anyway, the coincidence came in chapter 5 of The Next Big Thing when I read this line:

The next question asked for my favorite book. I thought about this one for a minute. My real favorite book is To the Nines by Janet Evanovich, but I couldn't very well write that down.

How random is that? Out of all the books in the world it mentions the one I just finished. Ha!

It's Heeeeeeeerrrrrreeeee!

Football season is finally upon us and I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. I've decided I am going to do a football post on Fridays so you all can keep up with my teams (Farmington Cardinals and Arkansas Razorbacks of course!) and cheer from your place in the country. I will do a mini prelude of the FHS games but will leave that up to the sports writers for the Razorback games.

So here we go.....

Tonight's Match-up:

Farmington Cardinals take on the Siloam Springs Panthers in Siloam.

Siloam Springs is a classification above Farmington and they have a strong team this year. Farmington returns a majority of their starters on offense but only 2 on defense. Siloam's size might be a tough challenge for the Cardinals but the Cardinals are ready to start the season and eager to show their doubters that the Cardinals are a team to fear.

Saturday's Match-Up:

The Arkansas Razorbacks host Missouri State in Little Rock on Saturday.

Stay tuned for game outcomes next week....

I've Got a Sick Doggie on My Hands

So when I went to the pound and picked out the sweetest, most loveable dog I could find, I didn't know I was also picking out the dog who would win the prize for the most vet visits as well. I have had Tackle for 4 months and he has been to the vet 3 times so far. Who knew?!

Don't get me wrong, I love Tackle and I'm so glad I chose him but man does he have health problems. Luckily the problems aren't major, just skin related. Lets take a trip back through his vet visists.

Visit 1 - Tackles first trip to the vet was right after I got him. When I picked him up from the pound they told me that he had developed Kennel Cough, which is like a human cold. So they put him on antibotics and he was fine within a week. After that I wanted to take him to the vet to get a general check-up. We go to the Wedington Animal Hospital and they are all great there. The Vet said he looked healthy but just needed to gain some weight. Come to find out that wasn't a problem - he has gain 14 pounds since I brought him home.
Total Cost = $30

Visit 2 - In June Tackle started itching and scratchy a whole bunch so I wanted to make sure he didn't have fleas (yes I give him Frontline every month but I was paranoid). I took him in and come to find out he has bad allergies just like his mama. The Vet said he would get them probably twice a year. She gave him a steroid shot and a dip to relieve the itchy immediatley and he was better.
Total Cost = $90

Visit 3 - On day when I was playing with Tackle I noticed on his chest that his skin was peeling. I thought it was just dry skin. Within 3 days he was peeling more severely on his chest and now his back legs and he was starting to lose hair in various spots. Off to the vet again. This time she thought it was either a fungus or ringworm. Great! She ran a test and yes it came back positive for ringworm. She thinks he got it from layign in the dirt (and no it's not actually little worms in his skin). He got put on 2 antibiotics and a vitamin for his coat so his hair would grow back. I also got a special shampoo to kill the infected skins cells.
Total Cost = $145

Currently we are halfway through the ringworm mediciation and Tackle's coat is starting to look better. Good thing about all these vet visits is that Tackle never seems to be in any pain from his skin problems and he has become the "Vet's Pet" at the clinic. They all know him by name now and they all love to love on him. My vet knows me by name too. She thinks its funny that he has so many issues (only because the issues aren't serious of course). She has even quit charging me for certain tests because she does them so often on him.

Anyway, at this rate Tackle is going to make me go broke with each of his vet visits getting increasingly more expensive, but he's my buddy so of course his going to get the care. I'm such a sucker for dogs!
