In the News: Power and PR

I was catching up on my news today and I came across 2 articles that really made me think.

The first was a video clip of the 5 living, past, current and future presidents all in one room-the Oval Office.

Think of the amount of power that was in that room at one time. Five leaders of the most powerful country in the world. Think of the secrets they know, the decisions they have had to make or will make and how many lives these 5 men have affected. Its mind-boggling really! I wish I could have been a fly on the wall at that lunch. What advice would a past president give the future commander in cheif in a time of terrible war and devestating ecomonic instability? As you are looking at the picture it is also amazing to see a man of color in the group. Our country has just witnessed history and this moment in time will go down in the history books forever. 2009 will be remembered as the year Americans elected a black president.

The next article I saw was bit of a validation and relief for me. It is a list of the 25 best jobs in 2009. I bet you will never guess what number one was? Yep! A PR manager.

Its validation that the job i love is truely influential and much needed during a time of uncertainity. As jobs are continually being cut and companies are losing everything, I am thankful and blessed to have a job that this economy still needs. Those failing companies and concerend CEOs come to us for guidance and counsel. They want us to make them successful again, they need us to get their name in the public so they can survive. What a crazy time!

Congrats Mer! I browsed the list and saw my future (which seems so far away) profession on the list as well! Good to know! Miss you!
